Yesterday was the upacara perasmian these 2 kitchen appliances So, I made keropok lekor goreng for potluck ramadhan and sweedish Rye Bread for our dessert.
Only using 1 tablespoon of oil, it's really healthy and yummy! Texture pun sama mcm menggoreng keropok, just dia kurang minyak. My family love it!
And for our dessert....
First time buat bread jadi lembut and gebu. Our old bread maker boleh donate kat org lain, sebab tak pernah satu pun jadi! Huhu We ate with low carbs ice cream, only 8g net carbs per servings! Hubby said it feels like eating breakfast and desserts! YUM!
I wanted to go on a diet for quite some time but I couldn't because of all our habitual food and drink. Being Asian, we consumed rice daily. Saya memang jenis tak boleh hidup tak makan nasi. Hubby pulak jenis tak boleh minum air kosong, mesti nak minum air manis. We had a bad habit of drinking carbonated soft drinks. Even our kids seemed to be addicted to Coca Cola. Bad kan?
Then it came to one point after our 2010 UK-Paris vacation. We felt so sluggish, tak fit, senang tired, and we started wondering: are we really that old? With the invention of a new gadget (iPad) made us explore more and understand the true meaning of losing weight. Hubby read an ebook entitled "You, The Owner's Manual." We also read about the news of the increasing rate of diabetes which is scary. There were saying, beringat sebelum kena...so we thought deeply and reminded ourselves that we shouldn't continue like this. We have a choice and it's not too late.
Someone in our family was diabetic at the young age. Once dah kena, the experience nak kena go through inject insulin everyday is not fun. And once you're diabetic, you also susah nak focus kerja and cepat fatigue. Since hubby is our family breadwinner, I need to take a good care of him, and it's time for us to change. So he chose Atkins for our family to follow.
During the induction stage, we had trouble sleeping, and pernah one time we were even shaking due to carb withdrawal. But we supported each other so that we can go through this. I cooked Atkins approved meals everyday and counted carbs. So, for 1 month we ate salads, proteins and cheese sahaja; no bread, no rice, no potatoes and no nuts. We just ate vegetables (I selalu buat Thai beef salad, celery sticks with ranch dressing, kerabu sotong and chicken caesar salad). For snacks, we had cube cheese. For protein, we had salmon, steak, chicken, prawns and squid. You can also find a few delicious atkins recipes on the Internet.
After a month, I lost 3kg and hubby lost 4kg. In 3 months, I lost 4.5kg and hubby lost 10kg. He also now can use his old clothes. We tried slowly to change our diet, makan wholegrain rice or wild rice and keep monitoring our weight. Now as long as weight tak naik, then it should be ok. I guess if you want to try Atkins, you must know how your body works and how it responds to the type of foods you eat. Try to educate yourself and motivating each other tu penting. If you try it by yourself, be strong and don't follow others and set your own goal. Every body is unique and keeping a high fat and low carb diet with maintenance of a high metabolic rate (through exercise) is key.
Now, diet is one part of the equation to losing weight; exercising is another. We tried to commit to going to the gym every other day but the trip and equipment were boring and demotivating. So instead we since invested in the Wii Active: More Workouts exercise game from EA. Not only does it burn calories, it is fun and keeps our heart rate up for a healthy cardio.
We can now keep losing weight and feeling great with Atkins and Wii Active. Eventually we will hit our BMI target. We hope you can too. =)
Today I am trying to blog from my iPad Seriously I am addicted with this thing I can't let it go even the time I got to go to the loo...hahahaha
The first thing I did is to install a few applications And one of them is zinio And in a few seconds I already subscribe 6 magazines for a year The best part the subscription costs only USD8 each for a year!
The experience reading magazine from iPad is really kewl It's like flipping the page itself from the real magazine but the color is so bright and true. Seriously this iPad makes me more addicted to read!

So everyone, we can call this as Otak Otak Toya or Sata Sempoi.
Takde vedevasss sebab tak guna daun pisang and daun kelapa...hihihi
This is what happened when hubby hantar news about Pasar Ramadhan
He sent me an email, telling me sedapnya kalau dapat makan Otak Otak and Sata
When hearing someone you love telling u like that,
Then saya dengan semangat berkobar kobar pergi beli ikan dan bahan2
And making these....YUM!
Part yg susahnya is when nak siang and buang tulang ikan
Then nak prepare tu bykkkk bahan
But Sata easy sikit compared to Otak Otak
Actually nak sedap lagi, Otak Otak ni pakai byk jenis daun
Since over here just jumpa daun Limau Purut,
So I just guna daun limau purut sahaja...
No bad for the 1st try and bila buat sendiri boleh letak isi ikan byk skit,
next time saya nak try cari daun pisang and daun kelapa
Buat biar nampak betul2 macam Otak Otak & Sata Terengganu! =)

Banana leaves, cut into 20 x 18 cm pieces, softened by steaming or scalding in hot water
Method Cut fish fillets into thin slices and season with (A) for 15 minutes. Grind ingredients (B) into a paste. Mix well the ground ingredients with (C). Blend in (D) and seasoning. All of these lines across my face Tell you the story of who I am So many stories of where I've been And how I got to where I am But these stories don't mean anything When you've got no one to tell them to It's true...I was made for youI climbed across the mountain tops Swam all across the ocean blue I crossed all the lines and I broke all the rules But baby I broke them all for you Because even when I was flat broke You made me feel like a million bucks You do I was made for youYou see the smile that's on my mouth It's hiding the words that don't come out And all of my friends who think that I'm blessed They don't know my head is a mess No, they don't know who I really am And they don't know what I've been through like you do And I was made for you...
